Experience the crazy arcade races in this free game
Asphalt 8: Airborne is a free multiplayer racing game and the eighth installment of the Asphalt series. Gameloft has gone above and beyond by updating 80 percent of the fleet with brand-new cars. The fancier models aren't available at the start, although you can unlock them as you win circuits and earn points. The vehicles are, on the whole, very well designed and true to the originals. Here, players can collect up to 47 cars in total and repaint them in various colors.
Asphalt 8: Airborne is similar to popular games like Asphalt Legends Unite and CarX Street, which are also free racing games that can give you thrilling gameplay.
A decidedly arcade-style gameplay
Asphalt 8: Airborne takes you to nine new destinations that include Venice, London, Barcelona, Tokyo, Monaco, Nevada desert, French Guyana, Iceland, and the Alps. Here, there are hidden shortcuts that you can discover to help you win against your opponents. There are also three game modes that you can choose: complex career, quick race, and multiplayer. Complex career mode has eight racing seasons and 180 events. Quick race mode has six solo race types (classic, elimination, duel, ejection, infection, and slalom). Furthermore, the multiplayer mode has up to 12 players. Additionally, a ranking system displays your world ranking here.
Its gameplay is the same as in previous versions and is still arcade-style. Players can still use Nitro to boost their speed, and they can always drift for miles, many items dot the road, and more. The big change in this game is the addition of springboards scattered around the tracks. These enable you to take flight and perform spectacular stunts in the air. In addition, to control the cars, you can choose different combinations. You can use commands entirely from the screen, the accelerometer on your device to steer the vehicles, or both at the same time.
As for the graphics, this game is as good as before and even better, with detailed universes and lighting effects that are quite impressive. The new physics engine shows what it can do when slowing down for collisions with competitors, and when debris is swirling on the screen. When it comes to music that can keep up with the fast pace of the races in this game, three catchy styles of music make you want to smash everything on the road. However, while the game offers multiplayer options, players may feel that the rewards system doesn’t adequately compensate for time and effort.
Updated features of this thrilling racing game
With its updated properties, the game has added the isle of Tenerife, which brings with it four tracks to burn your way around. You can enjoy these courses with the game's eight new supercars. These include the Lamborghini Aventador and Audi R8 LMS Ultra, which join the diamond-encrusted Lykan HyperSport on the starting grid. The game also introduced a range of new vehicles, events, and improved gameplay features aimed at enhancing the player experience.
Gameloft introduced several new vehicles, such as the Apollo Evo, VLF Force 1, and Ford Mustang Mach E 1400. This update also expanded avatar customization, adding a set of new female avatars and new decals for popular vehicles like the Lamborghini Sián FKP 37. The update also enhanced the player onboarding experience and made adjustments to the TLE (Time-Limited Event) hub for improved readability. New events, including seasonal Racing Passes and Car Hunts, let players pursue high-powered cars, while themed events like the Easter Celebration introduced unique visuals and rewards to the gameplay.
Following this, the game continued the trend with the addition of high-performance cars like the Mercedes-Benz 2022 Showcar Vision AMG and Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Black Series. Also, updates to the game interface made certain aspects, like wild card conversions, more accessible. Additionally, Gameloft revamped the ad lottery system, introducing tokens to the reward pool, and adding a new car upgrade option using vouchers. This update also rolled out fresh Racing Passes, Treasure Rush events, and a unique celebration event for International Worker’s Day.
A game that keeps the Asphalt tradition alive
Overall, Asphalt 8: Airborne has changed very little from the previous version, with the same philosophy and gameplay as before. What's changed are the environments and cars, the even more spectacular slow motion, and springboards located around the circuit. It’s a must-try addition to the game series where its long-time fans are guaranteed hours of fun while they take part in many solo or multiplayer competitions.
